Karra is a family nurse practitioner who works in our Hamilton office. She started with FMA in 2011, having been a student at the same office in 2010. She is interested in preventative medicine and management of chronic illnesses such a diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol). Karra believes that exercise is a great preventive medicine. If appropriate, she encourages her patients to try natural therapies and lifestyle modifications before resorting to medications.
After receiving her bachelor of science in nursing from Salem State, she received her master of science in nursing in family health from UMass Lowell, graduating with high honors from both schools. She worked for five years in acute care at Beverly Hospital and taught medical surgical nursing clinical at Endicott College and at Salem State.
Karra is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
Karra enjoys running, swimming, yoga, and any activity that provides mental and physical preventative medicine. She has run the Boston Marathon twice.
